Board-certified in neurosurgery, Dr. Barnett focuses on the treatment of degenerative disorders, injury-related spinal disorders, disc herniations, and other complex conditions of the spine. He serves as a neurotrauma consultant for professional football teams.
Dr. David Barnett has earned a reputation for excellence in neurosurgery. Described as a compassionate, attentive listener who always makes time for his patients, Dr. Barnett has been in practice for over 26 years. He is the former Chief of the Department of Neurological Surgery at Baylor University Medical Center, where he served in that capacity for 20 years.
Dr. Barnett offers his expertise in the diagnosis and conservative treatment of the following disorders:

• Tumors of the spine

Dr. Barnett grew up in Texas, where a childhood diagnosis of Legg Calvé-Perthes disease sparked a desire to enter the medical field to help others. Unable to walk for over three years, he grew to admire and respect his team of doctors.
After completing his education and neurosurgery training in 1996, he returned to Texas with his family to help neurosurgical patients. He believes that education, trust, and individual attention are the cornerstones of a healthy doctor-patient relationship. Toward that end, he endeavors to answer all questions with candor and provide thorough explanations so that patients have a firm grasp of treatment options. Dr. Barnett espouses a conservative treatment philosophy, utilizing minimally invasive techniques whenever possible.
He remains dedicated to providing quality neurosurgical care to patients throughout Texas and surrounding states.
