General Achievements
Cam Henderson Award (1975) winner as Marshall University Top Academic Athlete receiving a full year scholarship grant for additional continuing education used in 1975-1976 for premedical school education. This allowed Dr. Allie to obtain medical school acceptance in 1976 as the first physical education (PE) major to a US medical school.
Over 34 years medical clinical practice and early co-founder of the Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) which is one of the five largest cardiovascular practices in the country with over 50 cardiologists and surgeons practicing in South Louisiana with a dozen clinics and approximately 500 employees. CIS treats patients from around the world especially treating the complications of peripheral vascular disease (PVD) including critical limb ischemia (CLI) and specializing in “limb salvage”.
Author of over 250 articles, editorials, abstracts and book chapters in multidisciplinary educational journals.
Dr. Allie has delivered more than 500 invited lectures, presentations and abstracts at multiple national and international multidisciplinary conferences.
Dr. Allie hosted and edited > 1000 Live TV 1-hr “Call In” CV medical shows on local and state PBS channels between 1992 – 2008.
Dr. Allie sits or has sat on the medical advisory board or scientific advisory board of over 25 major medical and/or medical companies involved with the development of new cardiovascular, diabetes and wound care technologies.
Dr. Allie sits or has sat on the editorial board for over 2-dozen major medical journals including the journal of Invasive Cardiology, Podiatry Today, Vascular Disease Management, Diabetes Microvascular Complications Today, Endovascular Today and the Journal of Endovascular Therapy.
President and CEO of the South Louisiana Clinical Research Foundation and LA Cardiovascular Training and Educators Clinical Research Foundation.

Dr. David E Allie M.D. is a Board certified cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon with over 30 years of high-volume clinical practice in Houma and Lafayette, Louisiana. As a clinician, his experience has ranged from open heart and vascular surgery from the 1980s and 90s to specialization in endovascular peripheral interventional treatments of comprehensive arterial and venous disease over the last 2 decades with more recent focus on revascularization and a comprehensive treatment of critical limb ischemia (CLI) and limb salvage, including certification and hyperbaric medicine. He most recently founded the Louisiana Cardiovascular and Limb Salvage Center in Lafayette, Louisiana in 2009. He has authored over 250 scientific abstracts, peer and non-peer reviewed medical journal articles and chapters. He has been an investigator on over 2 dozen clinical medical trials and sat on scientific and medical advisory board of over 2 dozen major medical, pharmaceutical and cardiovascular organizations companies
Dr. Allie has trained over 2000 physicians and additional 4000 healthcare providers over the last 17 years during his many endovascular training courses and Lafayette, Louisiana. Dr. Allie has been an invited lecturer both nationally and internationally for over 25 years and all major cardiovascular, limb salvage and wound care conferences. In 1999, he co-founded the New Cardiovascular Horizons (NCVH) and in 2002, the first International Critical Limb Ischemia conference. Dr. Allie has received numerous recognitions for his work in healthcare including the 1999 cardiothoracic surgeon of the year award in the large Columbia/HCA healthcare system and lifetime achievement awards by the Save a Limb, Save a Life and the podiatry and limb salvage SuperBones conference.
