Dr. Tyrell-Smith received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Providence College. She then went on to get her master’s degree in Molecular Biology from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut, before attending medical school at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia.
Dr. Tyrell-Smith completed her residency with Eastern Connecticut Health Network Family Medicine in Manchester, Connecticut. In her final year, she served as Chief Resident. She is an active member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Osteopathic Association. Dr. Tyrell-Smith also served as a Connecticut Academy of Family Physicians Board Representative during her residency.
Dr. Tyrell-Smith was born and raised in Hartford, CT, and she is honored to deliver care in this community. As a board-certified family medicine physician, she sees patients ranging in age from infants to the elderly. She has received extensive training in geriatric care in outpatient and long-term facility settings as well as in women’s health and pediatric care. Dr. Tyrell-Smith loves all aspects of family medicine with a special interest in women’s health, pediatric care, adolescent care, preventive medicine, weight loss management, and management of chronic diseases such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and asthma. Dr. Tyrell-Smith possesses specialized skills to perform in-office procedures which include intrauterine device insertion/removal, Nexplanon insertion/removal, Depo Provera injections, pap smears, joint injections, trigger finger injections, wart removal, skin lesion biopsy, skin tag removal, and sebaceous cyst removal.
Dr. Tyrell-Smith always aims to develop a partnership with her patients and she delivers high-quality care to all patients regardless of their race, gender, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic status.
When she is not working, Dr. Tyrell-Smith enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoys gardening, running, reading, dancing, and traveling.
