Kirpal Singh, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Kirpal Singh, MD is an Advanced Gastrointestinal Surgery Specialist in Indianapolis, Indiana. With over 23 years experience. He is a senior partner at North Indy Surgical where his group has over 75 years of combined experience, 4 doctors and over 25 surgeries offered. He completed his undergraduate degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Electrical Engineering with Summa Cum Laude. He graduated with honors from medical school at SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn NY. He did internships at SUNY Syracuse & Boston University, and finished his residency at SUNY Buffalo. He completed his Advanced Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship at St. Vincent Hospital Indianapolis where he has been since 2002. Making Indianapolis his new home he has served the Indy area for over 18 years and resides in Carmel with his wife and five children. He is always striving to offer the best options for his patients. This led him to pursue training in Robotics DaVinci surgery in 2012. He help build the very robust Robotics program at St. Vincent Hospital. He was the first at St. Vincent's to perform many common and advanced Robotics surgical procedures. He is the only surgeon to offer some of the most complex Robotics procedure like Whipple Operation. He is the only Robotic Epicenter Surgeon in Indiana and is the driving force behind surgery training programs at St. Vincent-Indianapolis. He has helped train other surgeons in Indiana as well as all over US. He offers minimally invasive techniques as well as traditional open surgery approaches.
He is affiliated with Ascension St. Vincent Hospital located in Indianapolis and Carmel, Indiana and Hancock Regional Health located in Greenfield, Indiana. Areas of expertise include minimally invasive surgery for variety of general surgical diseases (gallbladder, reflux, hernias, pancreatitis, colon cancer, pancreas cancer, liver cancer etc.), EGD/Colonoscopy as well as advanced endoscopic procedures including ERCP, EUS and TIF procedure. He also deals with other common general surgical problems like skin cysts, lipoma, hemorrhoids, as well placing port-a-cath for patients to receive chemotherapy. Given his electrical engineering background, he brings "out-of-the-box" thinking to solve problems that can not be solved with "usual" means. He welcomes challenging cases and brings dedicated skills and compassion when caring for his patients.
He was the Director of Fellowship in Advance GI Surgery, Laparoscopy, Robotic, Endoscopy and Ultrasound at St. Vincent Hospital. Dr. Singh is Board Certified and a member of the American Board of Surgery. He is also a member of the Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and member of the Medical Association of Indiana, Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, and American Hernia Society. He has been recognized throughout the years including Gold Star Resident Award in Pediatrics, Phi Theta Kappa International Scholastic, honorary awards for achievement and student research. He is an award recipient of Castle Connolly as identified of Top Doctors and featured Top Doc in Indianapolis Monthly 2017,2018, and 2019. Through his academic dedication he has helped author several journal articles and abstracts. He continues to look for ways to improve quality of care for his patients with ongoing and continued research.
