Irwin B. Simon M.D., F.A.C.S. is a board certified general surgeon. Dr. Simon attended Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed his Internship, Residency, and Fellowship training at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Simon’s fellowship was in advanced laparoscopic surgery and he remains on the cutting edge of minimally invasive surgical techniques.
Upon completion of his training Dr. Simon entered the United States Army Medical Corps. He served as Director of the U.S. Army Surgical Endoscopy training program, educating other surgeons in endoscopic and minimally invasive techniques of surgery. He has lectured on minimally invasive techniques both nationally and internationally.
Dr. Simon is a veteran of the first Gulf War. He moved to Las Vegas in 1993. He has built a reputation as a general surgeon with a practice emphasis on minimally invasive approaches to surgery whenever possible.
Dr. Simon’s surgical practice has always included the treatment of varicose veins with the traditional surgical approach of ligation and stripping. With his extensive background in minimally invasive surgery, it was a natural progression to become involved in the latest technology offering minimally invasive treatment of varicose veins.
Dr. Simon has evaluated various technologies. His practice now incorporates the endovenous radiofrequency ablation techniques for treatment of varicose vein disease and venous reflux. He takes a personal approach to each patient, educating them on reflux or backwards blood flow in the veins. This is typically the source of most patients varicose vein problems in the legs.
After proper evaluation, Dr. Simon then customizes the treatment of each patient to include the least invasive and most effective techniques. Theses may include VNUS radiofrequency ablation, stab phlebectomies (small incision vein removals) and injection sclerotherapy where indicated.
Dr. Simon is pleased to offer minimally invasive treatment of venous reflux and varicose veins. He has founded Vegas Valley Vein Institute and added these procedures to the scope of his general surgery practice.
