Dr. Sharman is the director of research at the Willamette Valley Cancer Institute as well as the medical director of hematology research for The US Oncology Network. He is well versed in the latest scientific breakthroughs across a diversity of cancers. He’s been instrumental in developing a number of important advances in treatment and is widely published within the current scientific literature, including several publications within the New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Blood and others. The research program in Eugene has developed an international reputation in several different types of cancer and Dr. Sharman has presented findings at major conferences in the US, Asia, and Europe.

 

Dr. Sharman’s research has helped position WVCI to have access to a variety of exciting new areas of research, including immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and personalized medicine. “While developments in research provide new avenues for hope, what means the most to me is being with patients in their moment of greatest need. The relationships that develop are often intense but very rewarding.”
