Dr. Aukstuolis (“Dr. A”) was born and raised in Ohio, living in Cleveland and Cincinnati. After completing his undergraduate degree in Psychology and Neuroscience at Miami University (OH), Dr. Aukstuolis earned his medical degree at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he was awarded the Armed Services Health Professions Scholarship. He then completed his pediatric residency training at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Virginia. During his nine years of active duty service in the Navy, he served as the Flight Surgeon of one of the largest helicopter squadrons in the Navy, Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron 15 (HM-15, the “Blackhawks”), and deployed to the Middle East. The Navy moved him and his family to the Pacific Northwest in 2016 as a Lieutenant Commander, where he practiced as a general pediatrician at the Naval Health Clinic Oak Harbor for three years before completing his active duty service.
Dr. Aukstuolis completed his fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at the University of Washington/Seattle Children’s Hospital, where he co-wrote a textbook chapter on immune deficiencies, worked on a collaborative project with the Gastroenterology Department at Seattle Children’s Hospital evaluating young pediatric patients with inflammatory bowel disease for immune deficiency and participated in research studying T-cell responses during subcutaneous immunotherapy to pollens. Dr. Aukstuolis’ particular areas of interest are patients with severe asthma, food allergies, immunotherapy, atopic dermatitis, and primary immune deficiencies. He has experience with high-risk oral food challenges and food allergy clinical trials. He is excited about rapidly evolving evidence-based care that is becoming available for patients who suffer from life-altering allergic diseases, including food allergies. He feels the field of Allergy/Immunology is in a particularly advantaged position to lead the way in the 21st century in individualized medical care, utilizing biologic medications to provide more targeted therapies as we better understand the molecular basis of allergy and immune dysregulation.
Dr. Aukstuolis is excited to settle down in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with his wife and two children, where they will continue to hike, kayak, camp, snowshoe, cross-country ski, and downhill ski.
Dr. Aukstuolis sees patients in our Everett and Redmond offices.
