Kevin Murphy, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at Sports Medicine Oregon with fellowship training in sports medicine. Dr. Murphy sees patients at the practice’s offices in Wilsonville and Tigard, Oregon.
Dr. Murphy finished his undergraduate degree at Loyola Marymount University and his medical degree at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine in Los Angeles, California. He completed a general surgery internship and his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine. Dr. Murphy decided to further his training with a fellowship in sports medicine at Stanford University. In addition to his extensive training, Dr. Murphy has a special clinical interest in the care and rehabilitation of injured athletes of all ages. His surgical expertise includes arthroscopy, joint reconstruction, cartilage replacement, and orthopedic trauma.
In addition to seeing patients at Sports Medicine Oregon, Dr. Murphy is affiliated with Oregon Outpatient Surgery Center, Meridian Park Hospital, Providence St. Vincent Hospital, Providence Willamette Falls Hospital, and Northwest Ambulatory Surgical Center.
Dr. Murphy currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer for the Portland Timbers of Major League Soccer. He also provides orthopedic support for the Portland Thorns and is the head team orthopedic surgeon for the Portland Thunder of the Arena Football League. He provides orthopedic care at the Nike Sports Medicine Clinic and orthopedic support for several local high schools.
In his spare time, Dr. Murphy enjoys traveling, golfing, and snowboarding. His wife, Laura, is a pediatrician and they have three children.
