Prior to moving to Louisiana, Dr. Reddy had been in private practice in central and eastern Kentucky from 2006 through 2008.
Dr. Reddy obtained his undergraduate degree from University of Rochester (New York) as a Bausch & Lomb Science Scholar. He completed a dual degree program, obtaining a B.S in Microbiology and a B.A. in Economics. While at the University of Rochester, he also began his research career in ophthalmology. By graduation, he had 6 published abstracts and 3 poster presentations at national meeting.
He earned his Medical Doctorate (M.D.) from the University of Kentucky School of Medicine in 2000. Dr. Reddy completed both a medicine internship at the Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation and his residency in Ophthalmology at LSU Eye Center under noted ophthalmologists Herb Kaufman, Bruce Barron, Claude Burgoyne. While a resident, Dr. Reddy presented research at national meetings every year.
Following residency. Dr. Reddy completed a fellowship in Cornea & External Disease at the Illinois Eye & Ear Infirmary on the University of Illinois at Chicago campus from 2005 to 2006. His mentors were distinguished ophthalmologists Joel Sugar, Elmer Tu, Ali Djalilian and Dimitri Azar. While in fellowship, he began the lamellar keratoplasty program, being the first surgeon to perform Descemets Stripping Endothelial Keratoplasty (DSEK). DSEK is now considered the standard treatment for endothelial corneal disease. In 2007 and 2008, Dr. Reddy performed over 50% of all DSEK in central Kentucky. Dr. Reddy has authored journal articles, one book chapter, and is routinely an invited instructor at national ophthalmology meetings.
