Sharon Sherling, MD, ABIHM, is board-certified in family medicine as well as integrative holistic medicine and treats patients at Virginia Family Medicine in Fairfax, Virginia. She specializes in helping patients manage diabetes, hypertension, depression, and various autoimmune conditions, using alternative methods to help these patients optimize their health. In doing so, she takes the mind, body, and spirit into account to help them achieve a state of total and holistic wellness.
Dr. Sherling grew up in Alexandria, Virginia, before attending the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia, for her undergraduate education. She majored in chemistry and biology there before moving to Norfolk, Virginia, to attend Eastern Virginia Medical School.
Following her 1999 graduation, she moved to Pittsburgh to complete her family practice internship and residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) St. Margaret. She also worked at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital, receiving additional training in OB/GYN care and the care of children.
Dr. Sherling treats patients for chronic conditions and helps patients prevent future health complications with kindness and compassion. For her excellence in care, she has earned the title of one of America’s Top Family Doctors by the Consumer Research Council of America.
